Shaping the Dog of Your Dreams
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A: Yes, we are. We are happy to provide proof.
A: We can create custom day training packages to deal with either issue. They are listed under personal coaching because we feel that caregiver involvement is vitally important when dealing with complex issues like reactivity and separation anxiety.
A: With Day Training, Heather brings 20+ years experience to working with your dog one-on-one. This is the type of personalized attention and training you will not receive in a group class. It is hard to have personal needs met in group classes. Many dogs find it hard to focus in a group setting and do not receive the full benefit of training that Heather’s experience brings. She is laser focused on “Shaping the Dog of Your Dreams.” Your dog will learn more through day training, faster, with long lasting results.
A: No dog is too old to train! We find that older dogs respond incredibly well to clicker training. Ingrained behaviors may take a bit more time to modify but we produce results with dogs of all ages and all levels of training.
A: Professional, ethical dog trainers do not guarantee behavior. Here’s why:
The training and behavior modification services provided by HALO Dog Training, LLC are designed to meet the individual needs of clients and their dogs. Successful execution of those services depends on the level of commitment and compliance of the owner, a combination of learned skills and ongoing practice.
Animal behavior (humans are animals too) is never fixed or static; it changes depending on circumstance and environment. Even well-trained behaviors are at risk of fading over time without repetition and practice. In cases of fear or aggression, although behavior may be modified, the dog is never “cured." A dog's behavior is ultimately the responsibility of the owner.
As a result of the changeability inherent in all behavior, it is unethical to offer a guarantee of an animal's future behavior. As a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), we have adopted the policy set forth in their mission statement:
"Members should refrain from giving guarantees regarding the outcome of training, because there is no sure way to guarantee the cooperation and performance of all parties involved and because the knowledge of animal behavior is incomplete.”
A. First, congratulations on your dedication to learning with your dog! The HALO Shape Your Own Package is a great place to start. Our private training sessions can help you achieve your goals whether they are to learn new tricks or advancing skills. When it comes to group classes, terms like Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced can mean different things to different people. That’s why at HALO we customize training plans that allow you to work at your own pace, according to your own level of comfort and expertise. Unlike group classes, the attention is focused solely on you and your dog achieving your goals no matter what level of training you have completed.
A. Because learning is a lifelong process for everyone – both people and dogs! Well-trained dogs benefit greatly from the mental stimulation of new training. Training your dog is a fun way to strengthen your bond and it challenges you both to try some new tricks by taking your abilities to the next level.
A. HALO Dog Training focuses solely on private training.
A. For the owner who wants to be involved in all training sessions, our Private Coaching is just for you! Training your dog strengthens your bond through mutual collaboration. You are a vital component of the training plan and will be actively involved in each session. Your trainer considers you a partner in this endeavor and transfers their knowledge to you. During the session your trainer will demonstrate skills focused on your goal behaviors and guide you toward “Shaping the Dog of Your Dreams.” This kind of individual attention is impossible to achieve in a group training setting.
